What is an Educational Consultant?

An Educational Consultant is a trained professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge about educational placement options. An Educational Consultant strives to find the “best fit” academic and social/emotional environment for your son or daughter.

Why should I use an Educational Consultant?

In our society, limitless information on every conceivable topic is available literally at our fingertips. Add in the well-intentioned advice and opinions from family and friends, and this information can be overwhelming. Different children have different needs. Furthermore, all schools/programs are not created equal. Educational Consultants can help you sort out the often confusing and conflicting information to help parents avoid inappropriate, punitive, or incompetent programs. Educational Consultants make it their business to understand the nuances of a vast array of educational options.

How familiar are you with the schools/programs you recommend?

At Atlanta Educational Consultants, we spend approximately 25% of our professional time visiting and evaluating individual schools and programs nationwide. In a country where there are literally hundreds of choices, in-depth, first-hand knowledge of schools and programs is essential to the health and well-being of our clients. Additionally, we attend several professional conferences per year gaining valuable insight into the most up-to-date academic programming and therapeutic treatment modalities.

Do you accept fees from boarding schools or therapeutic programs for placement?

No. Atlanta Educational Consultants is an independent contractor and receives no compensation from individual schools or programs for student placement. Our fees are 100% client based. We work only for you and your child. It is our responsibility to be your child’s advocate to ensure that he/she receives services appropriate to their level of need. To qualify for membership in the Independent Educational Consultants Association, we adhere to a code of ethics that serves to protect our clients. IECA’s Principles of Good Practice ensure that you receive the best, most complete and up-to-date information and advice that is available anywhere.

Will Atlanta Educational Consultants provide services on a one-time, hourly basis?

Yes and no. For therapeutic placements, we are available for an initial consultation to discuss services offered and the general process for school selection. However, during this consultation, no specific information about individual schools will be given. Recommendations for schools or programs come only after lengthy research and a thorough understanding of the child’s presenting issues. If you decide to move forward with comprehensive services, the initial consultation fee will be applied to the remaining balance.

For traditional school placement within the Atlanta metropolitan area, Atlanta Educational Consultants will work on a hourly basis dependent on individual circumstances.

Do you work with clients outside of the Atlanta or Seattle metropolitan areas?

Yes. While it is infinitely preferable to meet individually with clients and their children (and we make every effort to do so), it is not always necessary. For out-of-state, international clients, or for those who don’t want to battle Atlanta or Seattle traffic, we use the secure video conference platform “Zoom” which makes any meeting up close and personal.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept credit cards through Square, Quickbooks, and PayPal.
