Atlanta Educational Consultants Founder, Betsy Donnelly, served as a faculty member this past week, August 1-4, 2017 at the Independent Educational Consultants Association Summer Training Institute (STI) in Philadelphia, PA. STI is a 4-day, comprehensive training seminar for new consultants as they prepare to enter the field of independent educational consulting. Participants can choose to concentrate learning in one subspecialty area, such as college, school or therapeutic consulting or investigate other areas beyond the scope of original intentions. A wide variety of sessions are offered including topics relating to business practice, foundations of ethical practice, essay writing for prospective college students, social media, therapeutic educational consultation and much more.
Betsy was invited to serve alongside 7 other faculty members working in the educational consulting profession. IECA states that faculty members are carefully selected from the “nation’s most experienced and successful IECs”. Betsy facilitated discussion in mentor groups, as well as made individual presentations on topics of Developing Parent Relationships in Therapeutic Practice and School Consulting for Students with Learning Disabilities.
Established in 1976, IECA is a not-for-profit organization that provides training, mentorship, support and education to independent educational consultants worldwide.
“Even though I serve as a faculty member at STI to provide education and training for new consultants, I continually learn from my colleagues and peers. I am grateful to IECA for giving me this opportunity to impact others’ lives while enriching my own.” Betsy Donnelly, M.S., CEP, CPC
